The Lorac Mint Edition palette contains 4 x matte eyeshadows, 4 x shimmer eyeshadows, 1 x blush and 1 x highlighter. It also comes with a nude coloured lipgloss which is quite thick and a lovely suit-all shade. I haven't swatched the lipgloss in this post but if you're interested in seeing a swatch let me know in the comments.
The left hand side consists of 4 x matte shades in off-white, nude, mint and black. The middle section contains a highlighter in pink champagne shimmer, and a blush in shimmery coral. The right hand side consists for 4 x shimmer eyeshadows in white, pale shimmery taupe, reddish brown and dark brown. It's quite a large palette, the size of a small clutch.
On my nails I'm wearing Orly "Pretty Ugly" from the new Mash-Up collection |
Now to the bad bits. The eyeshadows. Yes, all 8 of them. I found the pigmentation very poor, with lots of fallout and chalkiness. They're the sort of colours that if you apply 3 shades on your eyelid within an hour all 3 will merge into one flat shade because of the fall out. It's such a pity, because the colours are very pretty and the mint shade especially is what got me to buy it in the first place. They do perform somewhat better when applied over a primer, but seriously I'm not a primer user so if I can't get an eyeshadow to work without additional prepping then I'm not using it.
Anyway, lets have a look at some swatches shall we? You can see how chalky the eyeshadows are from my swatches even though the colours are undeniably pretty.
If I could go back in time I would not purchase this. The blush/highlighter are not enough for me to warrant the AUD $52 price tag. And as much as I adore the packaging, I can't really get much use out of it can I?
Have you tried any Lorac products? Any favourites?
I love the packaging!
ReplyDeleteShame about the quality though!
The packaging is just gorgeous, but yes, shame about the quality :(
DeleteThat packaging is gorgeous! I actually thought it was a real clutch!
ReplyDeleteBut yes, the swatches do look not very pigmented & don't seem like they'll last very long :/
The Craziest Paradigm - a 'lil bit of rust & stardust
It would make a great clutch wouldn't it? But yep, they don't last long on the eyes at all. Such a shame.
DeleteSuch a shame about the quality of the product - packaging is gorgeous! I've never heard of tarazz before, will definitely check it out
ReplyDeleteThe shipping from tarazz is generally quite expensive, that's why the $10 offer they had before was too good to pass up on!
DeleteThe packaging is so cute.. sadly the quality is not so great! I think I'd still buy it, just for the prettiness though haha and try my hardest to make it work!

You know what I'd probably still buy it too because of the packaging, LOL.
DeleteSuch a shame to hear about the poor quality of the LORAC shadows in this palette. I picked up this Lorac sethttp://www.amazon.com/LORAC-Candy-Full-Face-Collection/dp/B0096M873A
ReplyDeletelast year in the States and I absolutely love it, the quality is fantastic, so it goes to show that it really depends on the palette/product!
OMG Angie, that looks gorgeous! I'm going to Europe later this year, hopefully it's still available in Sephora there so I can pick it up.
DeleteI've tried LORAC lipglosses and I like quite them. I've had my eyes on the Pro Palette for quite some time.
ReplyDeleteI should have gotten the Pro Palette, it looks like much better quality than this one.
DeleteThe packaging would get me, too. It's just beautiful. But the shadows? Meh. I'm not feeling it. Thanks for an honest review. xxx
ReplyDeleteI need to get someone to make me a clutch with that packaging as inspiration, it's gorgeous!
DeleteI love the packaging, it's such a shame the quality was disappointing!
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad! The Pro palette is really excellent. Hate when a brand is so inconsistent.
