What you need to know
It's a deep red shade that I imagine would suit a lot of skintones. For me this is a winter red as it lacks the brightness I love in my summer lippies. It's also very very drying. Prepping your lips with a lip balm is essential as otherwise the lipstick will drag as you apply. It looks almost velvet like on the lips which is quite different from other mattes I have tried.
Is it the same as Ruby Woo?
A lot of people ask how RiRi Woo (try saying that out loud 3 times!) compares to Ruby Woo. I haven't got Ruby Woo myself so I can't compare it, but from all the comparison swatches I've seen online they look very similar in colour. RiRi Woo is meant to be slightly cooler toned but to be quite honest I can't tell! Also the formula is supposed to be different, RiRi is meant to be less drying but that's something I can't comment on.
Is it a must have?
It depends. If you already have Ruby Woo I'd say give it a miss. But if you don't have it, and are looking for a retro looking matte red shade then RiRi Woo is perfect. And of course if you're a die hard fan of Rihanna then chances are you already have it!
How white do I look in this photo? It was taken outside, no flash. I think this lippy makes me look paler than I am! |
MAC RiRi Woo is an online exclusive release, available only through MAC websites in your country. I believe it's sold out in a lot of places, however the AU website still had them in stock a few days ago. Also don't worry, if you really really want it, it will be made available again in June.
This lipstick looks great on you! I also had Ruby Woo on my wishlist for a long time & decided to get RiRi Woo instead ~ I love it! x
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous red isn't it? I love it too :)
DeleteAs you said, I already have Ruby Woo... I pass!
ReplyDeleteGood idea, you definitely don't need both!
DeleteLooks lovely, makes your skin really pop!
ReplyDeleteI love the color on you! It's a super cute packaging, but the whole drying factor would probably be a negative for me. :( my lips are naturally really dry to begin with. What do you prep with? Does it interfere with the wear or finish of the lipstick?
ReplyDeleteYeah the drying factor is quite annoying! I usually just prep my lips with Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm, it's a cheapie, but it's non-oily/sticky which is why i like wearing it under a lipstick. It doesn't interfere with the finish or the wear time of any of my lippies.
DeleteThe color looks so classic! It looks great on you. :)

It looks great on you. I also think that this type of red would suit many skin tones. I'm not a lip stick person, but do want to own a brilliant everyday red. This color might just suit my taste. Thanks for sharing! When you get a chance, please take a look at my beauty and skin care blog. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteI don't like Rihanna but that colour is such a classy shade of red, wow! I'm currently wearing MAC Runaway Red, which is not so drying!
ReplyDeleteThis colour looks great on you, I missed out on it but I'll try and pick it up when it comes out again in July x
ReplyDeleteNot that I need anymore Red Lippie (Or lippies in general) but WANT!
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous on you!!! Xx
I have Ruby Woo but I've only worn it once. Whoops! I find that it can be quite drying but that also makes it great for eating as it wears well. You should wear this lipstick every day, it looks so beautiful on you!
