Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We’re retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch. - Excerpt from Official Google Blog
What does this all mean for Makeup and Macaroons? This blog is hosted on Blogger, so the GFC button will continue to work as per normal and you do not have to do anything to keep receiving my updates.
However if you prefer to subscribe to my blog through other methods, here are some other options.
OTHER WAYS TO SUBSCRIBE
RSS feed subscription
Bloglovin
Google Reader - This is how I keep track of my subscriptions
Bloggers

If you're following other blogs that are non-Blogger, just remember that you may need to re-subscribe so make sure you keep track of their URL so you can subscribe again if necessary.
And finally, a big thank you all for your continual support of my blog and for your readership!
PS: My blog is turning ONE year old this month, which means... a Birthday Giveaway is being planned! Sshhh...
I love that cat! :-p
ReplyDeleteIt's annoying that we won't be able to follow other blogs on places like Tumblr with GFC anymore, but luckily I only follow one or two blogs which aren't Blogger blogs.
Also happy 1yr blog anniversary! I just had mine. :)
xD HEEE. I love that cat! <3
ReplyDeleteYessssssss. This is going to affect blogs like mine something awful. The hilarious thing is that, ever since I posted on this subject i've gotten a few new followers...all through GFC. ~fail~
I was planning on taking the widget down at the end of the month but now I feel like I should take it down ASAP. I really dislike how Google is pushing their own services (blogger and google plus) onto independent bloggers.
Yours was one of the first blogs I checked to make sure I would be okay come the change. <3
This makes me so glad I never used GFC! I was so tempted to sign up for it so many times because many blog giveaways require you to follow on GFC but I have always used Bloglovin' for all the blogs I follow, and more recently Tumblr for any Tumblr blogs. Glad I stuck with that!
